The Science Museum, London, is part of a consortium partnership producing a large-scale, immersive robot-themed narrative experience. The experience evisions a fictional robotics company and audience members play the part of visitors to the company’s experimental lab. But all is not well at the lab…

The project will harness cutting-edge mixed-reality Magic Leap headset technology, combined with a unique mix of live theatre, actors, multi-room sets, interactives, haptics, sound and sensory design to create an exciting new world driving wider engagement with scientific themes.

The 30-minute experiences will be live during the summer and autumn of 2020 in the museum. In addition, a 7-minute “lite” version of the experience will be exhibited in a shopping centre in the UK earlier in the year.

At the time of MW2020, the project will be in its final months of production, for MWX, we will demo as much of the work-in-progress content as possible using two Magic Leap headsets, and if possible, elements of the physical interactive interfaces in the immersive experience.

The project’s cross-sector collaboration consists of: Science Museum Group and Natural History Museum; Almeida Theatre; Factory 42; Exeter University; Magic Leap; Sky; and Intu shopping centres.

Members of the Science Museum staff will be on hand to discuss the project with delegates, share insights and answer questions.
