This talk provides a high level overview of the current state of play in the world of bots. Bots are automated pieces of software that carry out a set of operations with some degree of independence, often with behaviour mimicking a person. They’re becoming increasingly sophisticated and have been adopted for a range of purposes within the museum sector.
Bots to be discussed will include:
Sarah Powell's Copyright Bot to determine the copyright of a work: http://m.me/copyrightforglams
The Smithsonian's use of Pepper the Robot: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepper_(robot)
The Rijksmuseum's collection Twitter bot: https://twitter.com/RijksMuseumBot
Auckland Art Gallery's chatbox, with integration to their online collection: https://www.facebook.com/messages/t/aucklandartgallery
